Learning for Life, Impacting for Christ
Welcome to 1st & 2nd Grades
Welcome to the 1st & 2nd grade class! My name is Melanie Lawson and I look forward to a great year with your children.
I am a graduate of Walla Walla University, where I received a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction. In addition, I hold endorsements in Special Education, Elementary Education, Psychology and Religion and am state and denominationally certified, with my most recent achievement adding STEM certification.
I have taught for 30 years, 17 of which have been at Boise Valley Adventist School. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy nature, puzzles, and spending time with my family.
The purpose of our class is for each child to know Jesus and His unconditional love for them. To learn of His character traits and model them in their own lives. It is a privilege to work in God's ministry and share His love with others and I am refreshed every time a child smiles, learns a concept or lights up with a new discovery. In my classroom:
-
I believe God should be the center of our class.
-
I believe learning is a lifelong adventure.
-
I believe in facing each day with minds open to knowledge and hearts open to love.
-
I believe in the freedom to wonder, to ask, to explore and to create.
-
I believe that success means doing our best, being our best and feeling proud of our efforts.
-
I believe every child has special talents.
-
I believe in the God given value of each child.
Informative field trips, creative educational activities, developing friendships and worshiping God through our curriculum are just a few of the highlights in our class.
God's presence and blessings are apparent in our school, and I look forward to another great year working in His mission field.
